The South Asian Network Operators’ Group (SANOG) is the principal regional forum for promoting Internet infrastructure, technical excellence, and collaboration across South Asia. For more than two decades, SANOG has served as a neutral, non-commercial meeting place for network operators, engineers, researchers, policymakers, and Internet professionals. Through conferences, hands-on workshops, tutorials, fellowships, and technical sessions, SANOG builds capacity and advances regional cooperation on critical topics including BGP, MPLS, IPv6, network security, DNS/DNSSEC, Internet Exchange Points (IXPs), peering, network automation, 5G, data centres, and other emerging technologies. These efforts have strengthened Internet resilience, security, and development across the region.
The Nepal Internet Foundation (NIF) is proud to serve as the official SANOG Secretariat. In this permanent role, NIF coordinates strategic planning and the successful delivery of SANOG activities, including conference and workshop organisation, fellowship management, partner coordination, logistics, and community communications. The NIF team works tirelessly to uphold SANOG’s high standards and community spirit.
Over the years, NIF has established itself as a leader in technical capacity building, digital policy advocacy, infrastructure development, and multi-stakeholder collaboration in Nepal. Acting as the SANOG Secretariat extends NIF’s commitment to the regional level and strengthens collaboration with groups such as the Nepal Network Operators’ Group (npNOG) and other stakeholders, amplifying Nepal’s contribution to South Asia’s Internet ecosystem.
SANOG 44, taking place in Kathmandu from 26–28 July 2026, carries special significance as it will be led by NIF in its capacity as SANOG Secretariat. Returning to the city where SANOG began more than two decades ago highlights regional continuity and cohesion. NIF is committed to delivering a memorable, impactful event that preserves SANOG’s core values of being non-commercial, inclusive, and technically focused. We look forward to welcoming hundreds of participants from across South Asia and beyond to this landmark meeting in the Himalayas.
